On seeing the good work done by the sisters of Fatima Convent (SMMI - CONGREGATION) and the struggles they were going through, the then Bishop of Kumbakonam Rt.Rev.D.Paul Arul Samy gave a piece of land to sisters to build a convent which was completed in 1965.
The number of patients was deteriorating from the year 1991 to 1994; as a result the hospital was about to be closed down. But Sr.Alphonse, who took charge of the hospital in 1995, brought some life to the hospital and the number of patients were gradually increasing day by day. There were more number of patients in maternity ward than other wards For three years the hospital suffered due to the absence of Residential Medical Officer until Dr.Revathi who was appointed as RMO in May 2002 and she served till January 2005.
